Shooting Leads to Search Warrant and Multiple Arrests

On December 9, 2024, at approximately 4:30 pm, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) in OCN received a report of a shooting incident in a residence on Bracken Dam Road in OCN. Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male victim severely bleeding as a result of being shot. He was transported by EMS to the Pas Hospital and eventually air lifted to Winnipeg Health Science Center to be treated. He is currently in stable condition.
Investigation revealed - three suspects arrived at the residence, which was occupied by the victim and other persons, in a black Dodge Ram. Suspects forced their way inside and demanded property from the victim. During the incident the suspects discharged a firearm multiple times inside the residence and towards the victim. No one else was injured from this incident.
On December 10th, 2024, shortly after 12:00 pm, MFNP officers located the Dodge Ram at a residence on Whitebridge Road in OCN. The residence was surrounded and occupants advised to come out but refused. Attempts to convince the occupants to cooperate continued for several hours. MFNPS was assisted by the RCMP Emergency Response Team, K9 services, Remote Piloted Aircraft System and the Pas Detachment.
At approximately 5:30 pm, a search warrant for the residence was executed. Five occupants were taken into custody, two of which were responsible for the shooting on Bracken Dam Road. In relation to the shooting and search warrant, Jock Daniel Campbell, 30 years-old and Morgan Cree Blair, both from Moose Lake, Manitoba have been arrested and remanded into custody with the following charges:
• Break and enter to steal firearm
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Discharge firearm while being reckless
• Robbery to steal a firearm
• Possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized
• Weapon possession contrary to an order
• Unsafe storage of firearms
• Utter threats to a person
• Disguised with intent to commit offence
• Resist or obstruct police officer Campbell is also charged with:
• Point firearm
• Aggravated assault
• Discharge firearm with intent to commit offence
Blair is also charged with Mischief over $5000.00 In relation to the search warrant.
Raychelle DORION, 18 years-old, from Moose Lake - Kyle Head, 31 years-old, from the Pas and Amber Sawatzky, 35 years-old from OCN have been arrested and charged with the following charges:
• Unauthorized possession of a firearm
• Possession of a restricted firearm with ammo without license
• Unsafe storage of firearms
• Resist or obstruct police officer
Head was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for arrest.
Dorion and Head were remanded into custody. Sawatzky faces an additional charge of Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
Without a License and was released from custody to appear in court at a later date.
It is believed the shooting was targeted and the suspects and victim are known to each other. The investigation is ongoing, and police expect additional charges.
