On March 23, 2005, Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) received a complaint of an assault that took place over several days at a residence on Yellowquil Trail west in Long Plain First Nation.
The investigation revealed that over a course of several days an adult female and a youth female were held against their will and assaulted. As a result, Police arrested one male and executed a search warrant at a residence on Yellowquil Trail. Police seized approximately 9 grams of suspected meth, cash and numerous imitation firearms.
The 37-year-old male from Long Plain First Nation has been charged and held in custody on the following charges:
· Pointing a firearm
· Assault with a weapon
· Assault
· Discharge air gun or air pistol with intent to wound
· Forcible Confinement
· Uttering threats against a person
· Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose x2
· Weapons possession contrary to order x2
· Possession of property obtained by crime less than or equal to $5000
· Possession for the purpose of Trafficking – namely, Methamphetamine
This incident was an Intimate Partner Violence incident, the accused will not be named to protect the identity of the victim.
