Police Search for Male Charged with Stabbing Incident

On January 3, 2025, Manitoba First Nations Police (MFNP) officers received a report of a male with a stab wound being located on a road by public works employees.


Police located a male victim suffering from severe injuries and experiencing heavy blood loss, EMS was requested however due to the distance of an ambulance, the victim was transported to Russell Health Centre in a police vehicle. The victim received medical treatment and was stabilized. He is currently recovering from his injuries.


An investigation determined that the victim was stabbed by a family member, and an arrest warrant has been issued for, Shannon Christopher Shingoose, 40 years old, of Birdtail Sioux First Nation.



Shingoose has been charged with the following offences.

·      Aggravated assault

·      Assault with a weapon
