Manitoba First Nations Police Service

We believe that policing is more than the enforcement of laws. It is also about finding creative ways to deal with the many challenges facing our communities. As a result, our approach to building public safety is rooted in developing meaningful partnerships with stakeholders who share our vision and who represent the community.

In all we do, we maintain a deep respect for First Nations customs and traditions, and we have built our processes and policies around these traditions.

We recognize that each First Nation within our service area has its own unique culture and traditions. And in response to that, we provide a professional and understanding police service that is involved and engaged at all levels.

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service was developed and built for First Nations by First Nations and works hard to act as an example of community-based policing.

As a community-based organization we are motivated to meet the demands of policing with a multi-faceted approach that includes:

  1. Education
  2. Enforcement
  3. Crime prevention

Through local control and accountability to its First Nations communities, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service continues to provide a quality of professional service – a service that is focused on community engagement and on building strong relationships within the community.

We believe it is this focus that makes Manitoba First Nations Police Service the natural choice for First Nations communities in Manitoba.
